About Alverdia Health

Your Psychiatry Practice

Alverdia Health PLLC is a telepsychiatry practice providing secure virtual psychiatric care throughout Massachusetts. Our administrative office is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

We offer comprehensive outpatient psychiatric evaluation and ongoing treatment for adults seeking thoughtful, evidence-based mental healthcare. Alverdia Health is grounded in a whole-person approach that considers not only symptoms, but the broader context of your life, health, and environment.

Whole-Person Psychiatry

At Alverdia Health, we believe mental healthcare extends beyond a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. Each person brings lived experiences, cultural background, relationships, stressors, and strengths that shape emotional wellbeing.

Care begins with a thorough psychiatric evaluation and collaborative treatment planning. When medication is indicated, it is prescribed thoughtfully and monitored carefully as part of an evidence-based approach to care. Medication management is integrated with supportive therapeutic dialogue and practical strategies aimed at improving daily functioning and long-term stability.

Our whole-person model also incorporates attention to lifestyle factors that influence mental health, including sleep quality, nutritious whole foods, physical movement, environment, and daily routines. These elements are not substitutes for treatment, but important contributors to resilience and recovery.

Treatment is individualized. Some patients benefit primarily from medication support, others from behavioral and lifestyle adjustments, and many from a combination of both. Care is tailored to your specific needs and goals.

Our Story: What’s in a Name?

Alverdia Health was founded by psychiatrist Catline Jacques, MD, with the vision of creating a culturally informed, human-centered psychiatric practice.

The name “Alverdia” carries intentional meaning. “Al” means “to go” in Haitian Creole, Dr. Jacques’s mother tongue, and “verdia” comes from the Latin word for green. Together, the name reflects the idea of going toward green spaces and environments that restore, ground, and heal.

Nature is not symbolic here. It is foundational to the philosophy of the practice. Time spent in green spaces has been associated with reduced stress, improved mood regulation, and greater mental clarity. This perspective informs the broader whole-person model at Alverdia Health, which integrates evidence-based psychiatric care with attention to the conditions that support mental wellness.

Mental health is shaped by both biology and lived experience. The food we eat, the way we move, the spaces we occupy, and the structure of our days all influence emotional wellbeing. The name Alverdia reflects a commitment to helping patients move toward conditions that support resilience, clarity, and sustainable mental health.

Dr. Jacques has long valued green spaces, travel, and connection, and remains committed to helping patients build lives that feel steadier, healthier, and aligned with their goals.

“I love green spaces, the outdoors, traveling and helping people… I hope to continue to help people find the support they need to do the things they love as well.”
